Volunteer: Caring Hospice Volunteers Needed in Your Community: Make a difference that truly matters.

Care Initiatives Hospice is seeking compassionate volunteers to join our mission of bringing comfort and dignity to patients in the last stages of life. As a volunteer, you’ll provide companionship, emotional support, and a caring presence to individuals and their families—helping them feel valued and never alone during this tender time.

Opportunities are available in:
Ottumwa • Albia • Centerville • Oskaloosa • Chariton • Corydon • Surrounding communities

Volunteer roles may include:

Visiting with patients to offer conversation, reading, or a comforting presence

Providing respite time for family caregivers

Helping with light errands or special requests

Participating in legacy projects and life review activities

We treat our volunteers with the same respect and appreciation as our employees—because you are vital to our care team. Volunteers receive full orientation and training (at no cost), a Care Initiatives Hospice shirt to wear while serving, and ongoing support from our staff. Orientation is flexible and can be scheduled around your availability.

Requirements:
Background check, references, and completion of orientation are required. No medical experience necessary—just a caring heart and a willingness to be present for someone in need.
