Main Street Ottumwa - IA - Ottumwa

We have three active committees for most of our volunteer work: *Promotions - this group brings people to downtown Ottumwa and works with local businesses to improve sales downtown. *Design - educates and aides downtown building owners in facade improvements, does beautification efforts (like cleanups and flower plantings), and the like *Business Improvement - maintains a 'hotlist' of properties for rent and sale in downtown; is currently engaged in a Market Study which will benefit local retailers; and other support to business managers.

The mission of Main Street Ottumwa is to work to eliminate the causes of economic disinvestment, and promote a vital downtown, through education, historic preservation, and promotional activities in downtown Ottumwa--History:Since 2006, Main Street Ottumwa has played a vital role in the creation of a few dozen downtown housing units, investment of nearly $5 million in grants and private support of business and housing improvements; and engaged dozens of volunteers in activities which increase the pride in this part of our town.
