Who We Are

Southern Iowa Mental Health Center (SIMHC) is a private nonprofit corporation accredited by the State of Iowa. We are dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for individuals and families in our communities by providing easily accessed mental health services and promoting awareness of mental health issues. We offer you a number of services provided in a professional and confidential manner which promote the value, dignity, and rights of each individual regardless of age, sex, race, creed, marital status, sexual preference, social status, or the ability to pay for services. The center is a multi-disciplinary group of mental health professionals working together to provide the help that our clients need. Our team includes a psychiatrist, psychiatric nurse, psychologist, clinical social workers, mental health counselors, outreach programs, and administrative assistants.

What We Do

To serve those with mental health needs in the community with compassion, integrity, and efficiency.--History:SIMHC was formed as a non-profit corporation in 1967 and has continuously served Ottumwa and Wapello/Davis counties. The center is governed by a 12-member board of directors, staff consists of: an adult psychiatrist, a child/adolescent psychiatrist, mental health therapists, and in addition to medical professionals and office personnel.
